Student placements - types of placement

GORS offer two types of student placements; a sandwich year placement and a 10-12 week summer placement.

Sandwich Year Placements:

This is for students wishing to spend their integrated placement year with us at one of the participating government departments. They last for one year and start in summertime every year. Year-long placements are open to students who are looking to complete a year in industry during their degree course. Students must be returning to university after completing their placement. Due to the nature of the placement it isn’t open to first years.

Applications for the placement are carried out online via Civil Service Jobs with reference number 316711 or via this link.

Summer Placements:

This is for students wanting to spend their summer at one of the participating government departments for a minimum of 10 weeks. They are open to 2nd year students and above however the student must be going back to university for their final year or for postgraduate study following the summer internship. Due to the nature of the work, this placement is not open to those in their first year of study.
